Hello, My name is Jennifer Carlson and I am the PK-12 Computer Coordinator at Bolton Central School in Bolton Landing, New York. The school is interested in creating a Wikipedia article for Bolton Central School. The Wikipedia page we were using as a guide was Schalmont Central School (Schalmont High School). On Friday, February 16, 2024, we submitted a draft for Bolton Central School. Later that day, it was speedy deleted by a user named Theroadislong (talk). Reasons for the speedy deletion were that the sources were not in-depth, reliable, secondary and independent of the subject. We were not trying to advertise or promote Bolton Central School. We were just trying to create a page similar to the Schalmont High School Wikipedia page that I referenced above. What suggestions do you have for us at this point? Due to the promotional nature of your edits and your wp:conflict of interest, I cannot see unblocking this account to edit about this subject, at least not until you have shown the ability to edit non promotionally in other areas. You will need to describe what non promotional edits you will make not about this subject. (The subtext of this request is that you are only here to promote this school.) The article you mention is a poor example to use, as it is problematic itself, and I have marked it as such. Using any random article as a model or example is not a good idea, see other stuff exists. You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of how Wikipedia works. Wikipedia is not a directory, so an organization is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a public school, it is treated the same as an organization; so it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the school must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:50, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
