My name is Richard Accetta-Evans.

I was born as Richard Evans in 1947 and married Janet Accetta in 1977. We have a son named Nicholas, born in 1981.

I am a member of Fifteenth Street Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, a local Quaker congregation affiliated with New York Yearly Meeting.

My interest in Quakerism dates to 1968 when I first attended and then joined the Albany Monthly Meeting. In 1969 and 1970 I was part of a Quaker experiment in community living called New Swarthmoor. I was also quite active in Young Friends of North America, in the draft resistance movement, and in the secular anti-war movement.

As a member of 15th Street Meeting I have served in various capacities ranging from Greeting Committee to Clerk of the meeting. In recent years I served on the Ministry and Worship Committee, the Greeting Committee, and the Library Committee (not all at the same time). I have also taught courses on Quakerism for new attenders and interested active members. Currently I am avoiding committee work, but I am still active in attending worship and in monthly meetings for business.

I have a personal weblog called Brooklyn Quaker but have not added to it for some time.
