Glasenapp[edit]

I think that the emphasis on von Glasenapp's "Vedanta and Buddhism," by giving such long quotes, is undue; the publication is from 1958 1950. Quotes don't belong in the lead anyway. See also WP:QUOTEFARM. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 16:37, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gaudapada notes[edit]

Why were the notes removed? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 16:37, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It being an expanded article, the notes were put back into main body of the article. Duplication were removed which unfortunately have been re-inserted. Nrityam (talk) 17:07, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Move, move and move again[edit]

No, this page is not about "Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta"; it is specifically about the influence of Buddhism on Advaita vedanta. Painfull for some, I know, but don't try to hide it with semi-neutral titles like "Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta." That's not the topic, not even when similarities and differences are discussed. Even those sections are about how Advaita Vedanta is similar as and different from (Mahayana) Buddhism. As a reminder: Buddhism existed for 1,000 years already when Gaudapada wrote his treatises. If you're looking for Hindu influences on Buddhism, look at Tantra: that's where Buddhism was clearly influenced by, and even followed, the Hindu lead. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 10:05, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Need to be renamed as Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta. There are more influences other than Tantra that will be added + Dialectical arguments between the two sides will be added. Please wait for the same. I have incorrectly left 'on' from previous tile. Please help revert to 'and' as I don;t seem to be able to do so. Nrityam (talk) 17:05, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The name "Buddhism on Hinduism" is ridiculous; this page is not about Buddhist opinions on Hinduism, but about Buddhist influences on Advaita Vedanta. There already is a page Buddhism and Hinduism. The comment "The article will be expanded to include the dialectical debates between the schools" is a non-argument; this page does not contain that info, but is about the Buddhist influences on Advaita Vedanta, which should be reflected by the title. No WP:COATRACK please. @Bishonen:: could you please intervene here? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 18:48, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is ridiculous to comment with such fierce passion without having the courtesy to read. Dare I say it is extremely unbecoming of a senior editor. May be you need to revisit WP:Civility. Nevertheless, re-pasting the last part of my comment for your reference, " Please help revert to 'and' as I don;t seem to be able to do so." Nrityam (talk) 04:29, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, I won't help you to move this page back to "Buddhism and Hinduism," for rewasons already given. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 05:01, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Let me get more material and then maybe, we will seek consensus. And again, read before you react. Nrityam (talk) 06:11, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merged back[edit]

I've merged back the page to Advaita Vedanta#Buddhist influences, where it came from, and with which it substantially overlaps. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 07:52, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And now moved it back here, and shortened the topic considerably at Advaita Vedanta. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 07:25, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
