Plot[edit]

Esperanza is a woman who works as a housekeeper in the de la Mora family home where her son Diego lives, but he has grown up believing that the de la Mora family are his parents. Diego is a society boy, accustomed to luxuries and living life irresponsibly. His relationship with Esperanza is very hostile; he humiliates her and despises her because he believes that she wants to replace his late mother. On the contrary, Carolina is a young and beautiful woman who lives in a humble house with her mother Goya and her sister Margarita, who helps and supports her.

Carolina loses her mother, and together with Margarita and the support of her neighbor Petronila, she struggles to move forward. Thus, Carolina and Esperanza go out of their way to get the love they need so much. Esperanza struggles to obtain the love of her son and Carolina lives without a mother whom she wants to recover. However, happiness will not come so quickly since the de la Mora family's father dies, leaving Esperanza as guardian and executor of his five children. In addition to Diego, there are Mireya, Fabricio, who is an invalid, and the minors Lili and Saúl. The last three have a great affection for Esperanza, but the death of Don Erasmo causes the frustration of Diego and his sister Mireya, both of them despise Esperanza. Mireya also comes to despise Carolina, who has fallen in love with Diego, so she will do everything in her power to prevent the happiness of Carolina and Esperanza.
