Savitri is an Indian fantasy drama television show, which aired on Life OK from 18 February 2013[2] to 4 October 2013. The initial co-producers were Film Farm India, but before the series went on air, the production was switched to Flying Turtles.[1] In August 2013, a cast revamp was carried out.[3] It is a modern take on the traditional Indian folktale of Savitri and Satyavan from the Mahabharata.[4]

It's the story about princess damyanti and senapati veer who were in love with each other. But, their love story was taken over by a powerful demon called "rahukaal". To revenge her lover's death and end rahukaal terror, damyanti cuts rahukaal's body parts into 52 pieces and place them into different parts of the world. Subsequently, she kills herself in the grief of losing her beloved lover.

After 1000 years, damyanti and veer reincarnate as savitri and satyavan. Savitri has some powers from which she could see dead people and help them attaining salvation. Satya sees savitri in a park and fell in love with her. Satya proposes savitri but she rejects him due to her strange powers and she gets unknown flashbacks whenever satya touches her.

After many circumstances, satya and savitri get married. After their marriage, gulika who is actually rahukaal's sister tries to snatch mayavi kitab from savitri which includes savitri's past life and rahukaal's digged body parts.

However, gulika succeeded in bringing rahukaal's head from the tribal people when satya and savitri is on their honeymoon. One day, satya gets kidnapped by rahukaal and in exchange of returning satya gulika asked to find rahukaal's hand to savitri. After many hurdles, savitri succeeded in bringing rahukaal's hand and rescue her husband.

But soon their happiness taken over by rahukaal's evil tricks, rahukaal plot his snakes around satya which makes him to do everything which can separate him from savitri.

Savitri soon learns about tara-dwaar which has some immense powers where rahukaal's legs were protected from 1000 years. Dhoomketu who is a well-wisher of savitri tells her how she could trap rahukaal into kaalchakra if she able to reach tara-dwaar safely.

Savitri collects triangles after passing through different challenges, savitri finally able to trap rahukaal into kaalchakra.

But, due to vishagati (rahukaal's mother) curse savitri reborn in the past as damyanti where she unable to recognise her patner veer (satya). Rahukaal along with his sister gulika try to ruin damyanti's plans. After many circumstances and hurdles, damyanti finally able to kill rahukaal which breaks the curse. The story ends showing satya and savitri getting re-united in the present.
